Paths lead us to many different places. Some lead us through muddy puddles, some on dirt paths, some through treacherous terrain, some are uphill, and others are down. Fortunately, some of the paths we travel are smooth and easy. I love those kinds of paths, sometimes I just need a break, how about you? The point is that not all of the paths that we travel in life will be easy, but God promises to be with us every step of the way guiding and directing our steps.
Proverbs 3:5, 6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him; and he will make your paths straight.” If we trust Him, He will make sure that ultimately we will get on the right path. I think we have a tendency to put so much pressure on ourselves that we have to choose the right path the first time, but honestly, we don’t have to worry nearly as much as we do. Every path that we travel in life is set before us for a purpose. It’s the journey on the path that prepares us for the next path that God will set before us.
Are you currently on a path that makes no sense to you whatsoever? I’ve been there before and I’m confident that I could get an “Amen” out there from some of you that know what I am talking about here. At the same time, those of us who have traveled down those unexpected paths can now look back and see that the very path we wished we had never traveled is the very path that prepared us for God’s calling in the season we are now walking. Here’s the most important take home lesson: Follow God on the path He sets out before you. When you follow Him, you will find yourself on the right path. His way is the right way, the right path for your life!
